Citroen C2 car insurance quotes and insurance groups

The Saxo, for which the C2 is the replacement, was a huge success and Citroen would no doubt love to duplicate the success with this new car.

Available in 3-door format only, the car comes with a range of engines including a 1.1ltr, 1.4ltr and 1.6ltr petrol and 1.4ltr HDI turbodiesel units. The 1.6 petrol is only available with the SensoDrive auto box, so doesn't provide a 'hot' variant to the range.

The C2 is based on the C3, which has had something of a troubled history, but this should benefit the reliability of the new car as the problems of the old get ironed out.

The interior is typical French idiosyncratic design, with light, but cheap-looking, plastic used for the dashboard. Otherwise, there is plenty of room and the seats are comfortable.

Citroens have a reputation for gadgetry and technology and the C2 is not to be left out. On offer is a 'stop-start' device, which stops the car's engine when stationary and starts it again when you take your foot off the brake to move off again. This is intended to reduce emissions and increase economy.

Running costs are low with consumption figures in the 40s for the petrol engine and an excellent 69mpg for the diesel. Running costs should be reasonable and the insurance is in groups 1-8.
