Citroen have a way with design...and of making their cars iconic. The old 2CV was often described as an upside down skip, but it went to the hearts of all manner of people because of its association with green friendliness. Although the C3 hasn't yet been handed a project like global warming to solve, it has got a shape that will either be loved or hated. Resembling an inverted Silver Cross pram, the C3 is full of modern technology.
The car is pushed along by four choices of engine: 1.1ltr, 1.4ltr and 1.6ltr petrol and a 1.6ltr diesel. The diesel engine is the best by miles and appears to have been made just for this car, the match is so good. Apart from a manual box, there is the option of the Sensodrive automatic box, which is supposed to learn how you drive and change gear accordingly. This element of it is not that good, far better to use the paddles and change gear when you want to change.
Space-wise, there is a lack of headroom in the back, despite everyone sitting upright. The boot is vast and useful and there are storage places elsewhere in the cabin.
Costs are kept to a minimum by design features that make body repairs cheap and engine repairs simply carried out by plugging in a computer. Insurance ranges from group 2 to 6.
