Ford's true MPV. A full seven-seater, the Galaxy has a lot of decent opposition, but it fairs well. The ride and handling are not as sharp as the Espace and the engine noise is greater. However, the road noise is well-suppressed and the wind noise low despite the large window area.
But this is not meant to be a sports car. It is a comfortable way of transporting a number of people from A to B with the least possible fuss. And this it does in style. The only problem could come if you were transporting seven people all with a lot of luggage, when a roof rack or a trailer would come in handy.
As in true MPV style, the rear seats all individually fold flat to produce either a huge loading area or a picnic table.
Economy is reasonable considering the size and weight of the vehicle, but emissions are not great. Safety-wise, a driver's knee bag and window bags that run the length of the cabin augment the usual front and side airbags for the two front seats.
The insurance group varies between 10 and 16 depending on engine size and spec.
