Would you believe that the Ka was first produced in 1997? Today, it looks just as fresh as it did then. A huge gamble for Ford, the Ka was the first fun car to appear since the Mini, a true fashion accessory you could drive - especially around town. This car is not for the large family. You may get two kids in the back, but that is all. The front passengers, however, have comfort and a surprising amount of leg room. The consol is a matter of taste and to some eyes getting on a bit, but it is practical and smart. Other interior materials are hard and utilitarian, but have proved to be long-lasting and hard-wearing. The driving position is surprisingly good and with the wheels on each corner, the whole driving experience is better than you should expect.
Both the 1.3 and the Sportier 1.6ltr engines use old technology and no longer appear in any other Ford Model, but they are still adequate for their purpose and there is always the benefit of there not being new technology to go wrong. Power is in the mid and lower ranges, with neither engine good at high rev.
A car that can be used as a personal statement for little cost. Insurance between 5 and 6 depending on spec.
