Like the Cortina and the Sierra before it, the Ford Mondeo is in a class of its own. It comes with almost any engine Ford produces and an interminable number of interior specs, from the basic to the luxury. Safety-wise, the Mondeo shares much of its build with the Galaxy and has associations with a couple of Volvo models (the 700), so there should be no problems there.

Performance depends on the model and there is an infinite choice there from a basic 1.6 to a 2.5 producing over 250bhp. Insurance groups 8 to 16, which is really good considering the power of the high end machines.
