Honda JAZZ car insurance quotes and insurance groups

Hugely innovative supermini, the Jazz has the space, the economy and drivability to be a winner. The only shortcomings are the lack of a diesel engine and the lack of a 'hot' version in the way the Civic has the Type 'R' to attract young drivers.

Two engines are available, the 1.2ltr and the 1.4ltr petrol. Both are eager and easily revved engines, but the smaller one is more suitable for town work. The 1.4 will cope on motorways. Gearboxes are either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission box.

Inside, the interior is modern and chunky with all the buttons where you want them and the dials easy to see. The driving position benefits from a fully adjustable steering wheel. There is plenty of space for five adults, but the seats are better for short distances because, like many Hondas, the seats are firm. Road noise becomes intrusive at higher speeds.

The seats fold all manner of ways to produce a huge area in the back, which is actually big enough to take a bicycle. There is plenty of head and leg room.

Running costs are good, although it is difficult to get the advertised 50mpg around town. Build is good, so reliability and maintenance should be reasonable. Insurance is in groups 3 to 7.
