Jaguar X-TYPE car insurance quotes and insurance groups

If Jaguar were to have a baby, then this is it. The smallest Jaguar ever built and aimed fair a squarely at the A4, 3-Series and C-Class. But not only is it the smallest, it is the first Jaguar to ever be offered with a diesel engine and the first to have an estate version.

Engines come in a number of guises including 2.0ltr, 2.5ltr and 3.0ltr V6 units and 2.0ltr and 2.2ltr diesels. The diesels can reach somewhere in the region of 50mpg, but are not a match for the performance of the petrol engines.

The X-Type shares its floorpan with the Mondeo, which provides a good precise ride. The larger engined cars have four-wheel drive while the 2.0ltr models are front-wheel drive only, something else the purest Jaguar fan will frown over.

Plenty of space with a large boot (although lacking in height) and plenty of knick knack places. Passenger area is sufficient for five although the sloping roofline can limit headroom.

Jaguar have managed to achieve a reputation for reliability and there is not reason to believe the X-type should be any different considering many parts are all tried and trusted. Build is good, but the interior, although smart and cosseting, is not up to the standards of Audi, for instance. Insurance in groups 14-17.
