A fun car. It has to be because the Mini Cooper is not really a practical car the way a two-seater roadster is not really a practical car...at least, practical if you have a family and are not just a one-man band.
The biggest achievement the designers of the Mini have had is to completely redesign the car, but retain the feel of the original. Because of this, the Mini is loved around the world and has been accepted into all strata of society.
This retro desirability may have been behind BMW's pricing structure. The car is expensive for what you get and adding all the bits you get on other rival cars increases the cost still further.
Space is also limited. The cabin is surprisingly small, but there are cup holders and the boot is big enough for a packed lunch. Access for the front passengers is good, but those getting into the rear seats will have to be very small and agile. Interior quality fits with the car, but in another car the plastics may be questioned.
One of the fun things about the Mini Cooper is the fact that it can be customized easily with bonnet stripes, roof graphics, mirror covers, and chrome packs. Leather seats and body coloured interior trim are also available. Insurance around group 8.
