Mitsubishi OUTLANDER car insurance quotes and insurance groups

Where the Shogun is Mitsubishi's major 4X4 product, the Outlander is the manufacturer's attempt at those who want a 4X4 but drive on the road most of the time. The car is another in the collaboration deal with Daimler-Chrysler, which has spawned a number of sisters, such as the Dodge Caliber, Nitro SUV, the Jeep Compass and Patriot, the Citroen C-Crosser and the Peugeot 4007.

Engine range is also eclectic: first there is Volkswagen's 2.0ltr diesel (140bhp) then a 168bhp 2.4ltr petrol and a Peugeot-Citroen 2.2ltr diesel (156bhp). The 2.4ltr petrol comes with a six-speed CVT gearbox.

Build is ok, despite a few years of unreliability for Mitsubishi, which are hopefully behind them. Inside, the quality is not top of the range, but it is workmanlike, apparently hardwearing and quite smart.

On the road, the car is tall so there is predictably roll around corners, but most of it is nicely contained. The suspension seems to match the four-wheel drive well and combined with the active stability control, makes the ride enjoyable.

The Outlander achieved 4-stars in the crash tests, but did badly in pedestrian safety.

Consumption is around 40mpg and emissions are reasonable. Insurance is in groups 10-15.
