A collaboration between Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat, the versatile 807 has seven seats and sliding side doors to ease access to the rear. It is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor and with the second and third row of seats removed there's a huge amount of load space.
Despite being such a large car, the steering gives confidence and the ride is comfortingly cushioned and refined as French cars usually are. The cabin is a quiet place to be with the higher capacity engines unfussed and very smooth. The 4-speed triptronic gearbox suits the car well. It can be used in either fully automatic or sequential mode; in automatic it can learn and adapt to the driver's style and the road conditions. Like many Peugeots, the manual gearbox can be a little clunky.
The 807 managed 5-stars in the safety ratings with a large number of features to help protect the passengers, including brake force distribution, brake assist and electronic stability control.
Reliability can be an issue with Peugeots, but the 807 uses a multiplex wiring system so that at least the electrics should not let anyone down.
Equipment is generous in all models, with all models having the electric rear doors. A triple glass sunroof is an optional extra. Insurance groups range from 10 to 17.
