Porsche CAYMAN car insurance quotes and insurance groups

If the Cayenne doesn't appear to sit happily in the Porsche stable, then the new Cayman certainly does. And can driving get any better.

Basically a Boxster with a roof, the Cayman is perfection on wheels. It has more power and, if it can be believed, even better handling. Some of this comes from the fact that it is a hardtop and gains extra rigidity from the roof.

Porsche have said that they are restricting the number of Caymans they produce, so there will be a strong demand and residual values should be excellent.

The engine is the 2.7ltr from the Boxster and with the light weight and stiffer body adds significantly to the car's agility. It's worth upgrading from the Cayman's five-speed manual gearbox to the six-speed unit that's standard on the S, since it gives extra pace. A five-speed auto is optional on both.

Like the Boxster, the Cayman is a strict two-seater, but there's plenty of room inside the new, fixed-roof cabin. Not a millimetre of space has been wasted: the front boot is 150-litres and there is another 260 litres behind. There is also a split-level deck on top of the mid-mounted engine and gearbox. Space for odds and sods is also pretty good.
