Toyota COROLLA car insurance quotes and insurance groups

The Corolla hatchback is powered by a range of engines that includes a 1.4ltr and a 1.6ltr petrol and two turbodiesels, a 89bhp and a punchier 114bhp unit. A sport version comes with the Celica's 189bhp 1.8ltr engine married to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Although it handles ok, the Corolla has cars like the Golf to compete with. The electric power steering provides good feedback and the ride seems eager. The car is nicely refined with some good materials used throughout, although the finish is not to the class of the most popular cars in this sector and not up to Toyota's usual standards. It has good sound insulation from road and wind noise to give a quiet unruffled drive, although some of the engines can be a bit intrusive, especially when pushed.

Fuel consumption figures are good and CO2 emissions are impressive, particularly in the diesels, which are clean enough to avoid the usual 3% company car tax diesel surcharge.

Interior isn't as good as some of the opposition, but it is still impressive, with some nice touches. Driving position is good with plenty of adjustment and the instruments and controls are good.

There is reasonable space for the family and the boot is of a good size to take their luggage or the weekly shop.
