One of many boxes-on-wheels style cars on the market, the Agila is an economic town car, although it isn't as economic as it could be, beaten notably by the car that gave it many of its parts, Vauxhall's own Corsa. It was originally a Suzuki Wagon R, another company owned by GM, and was conceived as an answer to Ford's Ka. It only comes in a 5 door variant and with a manual gearbox, so limits those to which it is attractive. More expensive than a lot of its rivals, it is solidly built and the interior is durable. There is a lot of room, because of the box-like design, and it appears that those who use a town car are often thirsty, because there are an inordinate number of cup-holders around the cabin.
Driving position is adequate and although the height can be felt while driving the car, it still give a solid ride and a feel of sure-footedness. Available with either a 1.0ltr or 1.2ltr engire, performance is not great with 0-60 in over 17 seconds and 12 seconds respectively, and neither engine can reach 100 mph (not that you would want that of course).
Safety features are a little basic with deadlocks an optional extra on all but the high spec versions. Insurance groups are obviously low (between 2 and 3) and tried and tested Vauxhall and Suzuki parts should ensure reliability.
