A Golf with a boot! Despite the fact that it might be less so now than at the beginning of its career, The Jetta will never live this down. And more so because the extra weight and size, with the same power units and drive chains, make the car less exciting than the Golf to drive, if the Golf itself can be called exciting these days.
Again, Volkswagen quality prevails, but there is a blandness about it; the Jetta is somewhere you would go to sleep not to party.
It is expensive. You could have a Golf and a party for the same money! Cabin space is good, providing room for four and their luggage. Wind and road noise are kept to a minimum and engine noise is low on all but the smallest engines, which can complain a bit when worked hard.
There is a stodginess about the whole thing, which can be illustrated by the Satellite Navigation System, which sort of shrugs before coming up with any meaningful information.
Safety and security are again average, which is supported by insurance groups ranging from 6 to 15.
