Volkswagen SHARAN car insurance quotes and insurance groups

The Sharan is a collaborative venture with Ford and Seat, with the Sharan having the greatest range of engines of them all: 2.0ltr, 1.8 turbo, 2 turbodiesels and a 2.8 V6.

For such a big car, it handles well, with precise steering and a feel of a car rather than a van like some other MPVs. Noise from road and wind is nicely suppressed, but the diesel engines make themselves known. Economy is a disappointment, with all but the diesels returning less than 30mpg. Insurance is also high at between 11 and 15.

Residual values are also low for the Sharan, despite Volkswagen's other models being extremely good. The reason appears to be a fear that with all the seats, there is more likelihood of wear and tear from rough family or commercial use. Again, unlike the rest of Volkswagen's range, there is a hint of unreliability concerning the Sharan and customer surveys seem to suggest that there is an unhappiness with build and trim quality.

However, like the Galaxy, driving position is good and the controls are all in the right place. Storage is good, but not enough for the luggage of the seven people you are carrying...maybe the makers of MPVs don't think people will use them to go on holiday? I have news for them, they do, but at present, the likelihood is that there is room for the people or their luggage, not both.

Equipment is good, even on the base models, but better on the Sport and Carat models.
