Ladies! And, for that matter, gentleman! Do you ever apply make-up whilst on the move? Yes?

Well, you’re not alone, according to women’s car insurance specialist Diamond. About a quarter of women apply the slap in the car on the way to their destination, if the results from a poll that the company conducted of 2,000 female motorists are to be believed. But if you’re choosing to ‘put on your face’ while in transit, you’re putting yourself at risk.

Of the women who’d answered in the affirmative, 16 per cent have crashed or had a near miss as a result.

Diamond managing director, Elwyn Gedrych tutted: "It's shocking that quite so many women admit to doing these tasks while driving. We all have busy lives but applying your make-up, or checking emails, when you're driving is dangerous as it means your full attention is not on the road ahead. "Even if you're lucky enough to arrive at your destination safely, you could be charged with careless driving if spotted by the police," he said. So why are women taking these risks? For six out of ten (64 per cent) they're applying make-up behind the wheel because it saves them time, while one in ten (10 per cent) said it was because they couldn't be bothered to do before they left home. Elwyn continued, "It's really not worth trying to save a few minutes in the morning by doing your make-up, or anything other than driving, when you're behind the wheel.

Handily, Diamond has teamed up with make-up artist to the stars Caroline Frazer to provide this entertaining video, showing how make-up can be applied more efficiently….and thus negating the need to layer it on in the car….
