Last month, we ran a competition to uncover the saving shames of Britain’s biggest tightwads. You didn’t let us down, and we received entries in their droves.
To mark the conclusion of the competition and for your enjoyment, we’ve collated some of the most eye-popping, icky and downright shameful entries we received.
Runner-up @acegirl22 was responsible for one of the grosser entries.
@Hinkyplops also showed us how pushing the bounds of acceptable hygiene could reap dividends.
We’re not sure whether this entry from @littlelottee20 would win any awards for cleanliness. However, it did net her a runner-up prize. Well done! Er, we think.
There were some really outstanding displays of creativity on display, with entrants putting together some impressive ways of confessing their savings shame. First, there was this from @TarlokM.
Elsewhere, @For_Kate chanelled the spirit of Conchita Wurst to bag herself a runner-up prize. Smells like success, Kate!
Family members certainly aren't safe from your shocking acts of #savingshame. We're pretty sure this young 'un won't be thanking @hannyinreverie for this in years to come.
Next up, @kaur_pkaur9, who also wasn’t afraid to test the love of her nearest and dearest with some astonishing scrooging.
@Eden_ethan and her husband had the temerity to take a snap while their nipper slept. The shame!
It's not just the kids getting fobbed off. Parents were the subject of some of your confessions, like this one.
This sort of thing was commonplace, too.
Menawhile, we certainly hope @h_igoe's sister isn't reading this.
There were a lot of very practical entries, some of which we’re sure tested the limits of our ‘no admissions of criminal behaviour' criteria… First up, @arroda.
@Oceanrise1 got fruity with her confession.
Elsewhere, @Barret132 wasn't too proud to 'fess up to deploying her kids as a convenient money-saving tool.
This was a theme that @katedupont31 expanded upon.
@Roleyreviews submitted one of the more elaborate ruses. We'd just like to take this moment to remind everyone that smoking is neither big, nor clever.
And so, to the winner. @Kerrybrearley’s pooch-tastic entry ended up scooping top prize. It’s ingenious. It’s a bit weird. It has a dog. All in all, it’s a cracking saving shame. Well done Kerry!
Thanks for all of your entries – we were well and truly bowled over by them. Stay tuned to Covered mag for more exciting competitions in the not-too-distant future...
The final winners were: @For_kate, @littlelottee20 and @acegirl22 (runners up) and @Kerrybrearley (first prize).
