September, and the job market's awash with the new tide of bright, young graduates, clamouring and competing for their first steps into new careers.
But one Cardiff University engineering grad won't be among them, having leapfrogged the competition to secure the opportunity of a lifetime with GoCompare in South Wales and London-based tech consultants, Kubrick Group.
Tabitha Davies, 21, came up trumps in our data science career challenge - a tough test of numerical nous, designed to find the next generation of data leaders.
Her prize? A place on an 18-week applied data science course - which she'll be paid to attend - followed by a coveted two year placement at GoCompare and the possibility of a career with us beyond.
"The application process was certainly different and a lot of fun, and it was great getting to meet the team at GoCompare, as well as the other candidates," said Tabitha, undaunted by the tough process.
Making the cut
Even getting to that stage was an achievement, with applicants facing several written and verbal tests just to make the shortlist.
They also had to negotiate a number of taxing challenges that put their analytical skills to the test, including applying their insight to real-world business situations.
They then had to present their findings to a panel of data science, tech and business experts - auditions don't get much more daunting than that.
Raring to go
"Needless to say, I can't wait to get started!" said Tabitha.
"I'm looking forward to starting the 18-week course in London and getting to grips with the data science challenges and opportunities at GoCompare."
And we can't wait to have her on board.
Jackson Hull, GoCompare's chief technology officer said: "Tabitha really impressed us at every stage of the process. Her place on the 18-week applied data science course and subsequent placement at GoCompare are thoroughly deserved."
"On behalf of the panel I'd like to extend my congratulations to Tabitha - we're all excited to work with her and see how she can help us develop our data science capabilities, while we help her kick-start an exciting and rewarding career."
