Maidenhead motorists advised on car crime prevention

Drivers in Maidenhead might have had to fall back on their car insurance recently if they were among those falling
victim to vehicle criminals.
A spate of thefts from cars took place in the town last weekend, the Maidenhead Advertiser reports.
With more than 40 incidents occurring, police are now warning motorists to be on their guard.
"I would encourage people to be vigilant, to note down number plates and report any suspicious behaviour to police," said
Acting Superintendent Jim Templer, Commander of Windsor and Maidenhead local police area.
"The public are our eyes and ears, and it is often their information that helps us to catch the offenders."
He added that drivers should remove all property from the vehicle, even items of no or little value. The glovebox should
also be left open.
Highlighting that the car is empty of possessions may help deter thieves - potentially helping keep vehicle owners'
car insurance premiums intact.
According to the Home Office, most vehicle crime is not calculated and is therefore preventable.
