Illegal drivers to face crackdown

Lincolnshire motorists hoping to avoid a car insurance claim in the run-up to Christmas might want to ensure
their vehicles are properly maintained.
Police in the county are launching a campaign to crack down on drivers of unroadworthy vehicles and motorists who
are driving illegally, without proof of car insurance, tax or an MOT.
The initiative will be the third of its kind launched in the county and will coincide with the yearly
anti-drink driving operation.
"Although it has been 18 months since we conducted the last large scale operation, traffic
officers have continued to seize vehicles that are being driven on the road illegally in a bid
to make our roads safer for all," said Sector Inspector Tony Smith.
Meanwhile, school pupils in years ten and 11 were recently given a lesson in road safety by Lincolnshire's
Fire and Rescue services, the Spalding Guardian reports.
