Drivers planning to motor around abroad are being urged to read up on the different driving conditions of other countries.
Road safety firm GEM Motoring Assist has announced its support for a report from the Association of British Insurers
that explains the differences between driving abroad and at home.
The company is also advising motorists to request a free copy of its booklet A Guide to Driving in Europe.
GEM chief executive David Williams said: "We think nothing of crossing the channel on a shopping or
sightseeing trip at any time of the year and with so many Brits now living abroad, we regularly make the journey
to visit friends or relatives, but are we ready to cope with the different driving conditions abroad and are
we aware of the differing regulations that apply in almost every country around Europe?"
He added that there are 45 significant differences between UK road laws and those of other EU member states.
Last year, the Daily Mail reported that Britons who speed when driving abroad are to be pursued for fines under
government plans.
