Home insurance holders in Hampshire may be enthused to read that police in the county have invested a new measure to improve police communication with residents.
Officers have started to make plodcasts to keep local residents up to date with current policing activities, reports the Basingstoke Gazette.
Among the topics being covered in the short audio programmes is the introduction of a new Smartwater zone to help crack down on burglaries.
The liquid can be applied to items to mark them invisibly, with Smartwater only becoming visible under UV light.
Commenting on the plodcast scheme, Chief Inspector Tim Ashman, leader of the Safer Neighbourhoods coordination team, said: "The plodcast gives us a new way of keeping communities informed about our work and will help us reach those people who prefer to get their news and information electronically rather than through more traditional methods."
Hampshire Constabulary states that its burglary rate has reached its lowest level since 1974.
