Claims from potholes 'on the increase'

More claims have been made as a result of potholes since 1996, an organisation has stated.
According to TyreSafe, the number of claims being made for damage caused by holes in the road has risen by 78 per cent in the UK's capital over the past 12 years.
The group goes on to state that 12 per cent of potholes are still not being filled by local councils, which equates to 120,000 separate holes.
However, motorists may have a better chance of avoiding damage to their vehicle's tyres if they keep their wheels inflated to the pressure level recommended by their automobile's manufacturer, TyreSafe suggests.
And driving slowly around potholes can help drivers avoid tyre blow-outs, the organisation adds.
Meanwhile, the BBC has claimed that it would take 11 years for all of the UK's potholes to be filled if work continues at the current rate.
