A special police unit in Humberside that targets travelling criminals may have helped local drivers avoid claims on their car insurance.
In 2005, the Police Authority granted funding for the development of the Roads Crime Section, which is based at Hessle.
Over the past three years, the unit has seen a number of high value arrests and recovered more than £1.35 million worth of vehicles.
The group has also conducted a number of house searches and detected 610 crimes in total.
Meanwhile, officers in the area have also recently embarked upon an operation to tackle the use of illegal motorbikes in rural areas of North Lincolnshire.
Operation Yokohama has been launched to combat the nuisance bikes after achieving unprecedented success in Scunthorpe last year.
Inspector Brett Rutty of the Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team commented: "Operation Yokohama proved very successful last year and police seized vehicles as well and also issued a number of fixed penalties to offenders using the vehicles in an illegal or anti-social manner."
