Drivers to have their speed monitored

Portable speed matrix signs are to be deployed across areas of Hambleton, North Yorkshire, in a bid to get drivers to lower their speed.
The rate at which motorists travel was checked in 608 locations in the region last year, with almost 20 per cent having problems with speeders - who risk a car insurance claim by travelling too fast.
In response, the council has said that it will implement signs that record how many vehicles go past and the speed at which they are travelling.
A number of such operations are planned for the rest of the year after gaining success in 2007.
"Everyone knows that driving too fast for the road and weather conditions as well as exceeding speed limits is dangerous - it causes serious injuries and deaths," stated Hambleton Community Safety Partnership officer Simon Gibson, of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Plans outlined by the government last year suggested that drivers who travel at 45 mph or above in a 30 mph zone could be liable for six penalty points and a £100 fine, the BBC reports.
