Keyless technology rolled out by Ford

Drivers who often find themselves rifling through pockets and handbags for their car keys will enjoy the newly built Ford Focus and Mondeo models which feature smart keyless technology.
The cars can be unlocked and their engines started simply by pulling on the door handle and pressing down the Ford Power button. To unlock the car a tug on the handle is again all that is required.
The keyless entry and ignition technology is powered by a special transponder, which can be carried in a back pocket or a bag and is detected within a two-metre radius, meaning drivers do not need to have the device immediately to hand.
The new technology also eliminates the possibility of locking keys inside the car as the system's interior antennae detect the transponder's location inside the cabin and inhibit the locking mechanism.
Meanwhile Ford expects to deliver the most '08 plated vehicles in the UK this March thanks to strong demand for its new Focus model and increased interest in its low emission vehicles from car insurance customers.
