'Shop around for servicing'

Drivers who shop around can make significant savings on their car servicing, What Car? has revealed.
The study showed that motorists can save up to 50 per cent when their car goes in for a service, with independent garages quoting less than franchised garages in almost all cases.
Overall, the largest saving was on the Skoda Fabia. An independent garage quoted £140 for the service, while a franchised garage estimated the cost to be double that, cheap car insurance seekers might like to know.
What Car? consumer editor Peter Lawton said: "With everyone feeling the squeeze on their finances more than ever this year, who can afford not to spend five minutes on the phone doing some research to save on car servicing?"
BMW has been awarded What Car?’s Green Award for its innovative EfficientDynamics technology which has been introduced across the BMW and MINI model ranges. The technology cuts carbon emissions.
