Rogue motorists 'a danger'

Motorists are flouting violating the rules of the road and are disregarding road safety warnings according to Thames Valley police.

More than 1,500 seat belt offences and over 200 speeding offences were detected during roadside checks while 215 drivers were caught breaking the speed limit over the last month.

Sergeant Chris Appleby said: "The results are most disappointing. They show there are a large number of motorists who have failed to realise the dangers to themselves and the public around them."

Sergeant Appleby highlighted the fact that his force has planned similar operations over the coming months in order to "bring irresponsible motorists to justice" motorists seeking cheap car insurance deals may be interested to hear.

Sussex police officers are being taken off patrol on the streets in order to make the roads safer for motorists and catch drivers who are breaking laws.

The scheme means neighbourhood officers are being trained by Sussex Police's Road Policing Unit. They will cover traffic officers' work.
