The number of speeding fines being issued to UK drivers is on the wane, according to new figures.
Statistics compiled by National Car Rental from its customer base show that there was a 108 per cent fall in speeding fines in the fourth quarter of 2007 - which may help to lower these drivers' car insurance premiums.
This drop follows falls of 26.6 per cent in the third quarter and a 29 per cent decrease in the second quarter of last year.
National Car Rental also revealed that its customers incurred 38 per cent fewer congestion charge fines in the last three months of 2007 compared with the previous quarter.
"Our Q4 figures have revealed some positive results, with speeding fines falling dramatically after consistent falls each quarter throughout the year," commented David Alexander, operations director of National Car Rental.
The minimum speeding fine is £60 and three driving licence points in the UK.
