Silliest car tax evasion excuses revealed

Some of the most far-fetched excuses given to the DVLA by drivers who miss car tax payments have been revealed, in news
that may be of interest to car insurance customers.
According to the agency, some of the most dubious reasons given for evading car tax included one driver giving their
vehicle to "a man in the pub" and another claiming that they ticked the box but did not know they had to
send the form to the DVLA.
The DVLA urged drivers to take advantage of the range of options available for paying their car tax and to take the
initiative to make payments themselves without waiting for a reminder.
"It's interesting to note that as technology has helped to make it easier for motorists to tax their vehicles,
so the creativity and imagination behind the excuses we are receiving has increased," commented Andrew Rhodes, acting
customer services director for the DVLA.
Earlier this month, the DVLA called on motorists to stay on the lookout for stolen vehicle registration certificates
when a used car.
