Cars at risk in Swindon?

Motorists in Swindon, Wiltshire, may have good cause to fear for their car insurance premiums, as findings have shown that a vehicle is broken into every two days in some parts of the area.
According to the Wiltshire Gazette and Hearld, 24 vehicles have been broken into so far this year, prompting police to issue advice.
"Local residents can play their part by looking after their vehicles and protecting them against theft as far as possible," commented Inspector Mark Sellers.
"I would urge residents to follow the crime prevention advice and park vehicles in garages wherever this is possible."
He suggested that residents also park only in well lit areas and remove valuables from show in their vehicles.
The inspector added that people are aware of how difficult it can be to lose sentimental or valuable items, but may not realise that extra work is needed to make repairs and car insurance claims.
In related news, the Wiltshire Times recently reported that a number of vehicles in the county had fallen victim to criminals who had been going about slashing tyres.
