Green car insurance 'helping people become eco-friendly'

Motorists should be educated about the benefits of going green so that they do not feel they are being forced to become environmentally-friendly.
According to Nick Dear, external communications consultant at More Than, green car insurance policies can be a means of helping people to become more eco-friendly because they act as an incentive.
"You'll generally save between three and 15 per cent, so hopefully that will encourage people out of gas-guzzlers and into more environmentally-friendly hybrids," he stated.
With climate change discussion a common topic of conversation, green issues are increasingly being pushed into the public sphere, he stated.
"Hopefully educating and encouraging people to drive in more environmentally-friendly ways will be enough to get them to switch, rather than through coercion," Mr Dear added.
A study by Motorpoint earlier this year found that one in five people planning to buy a new car in 2008 will choose with lower emissions that their current model.
