Over 1,700 drivers have broken driving laws in Suffolk in the first three months of this year, according to new figures.
Statistics released by Suffolk police show that these motorists were caught for a variety of offences, including speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while driving.
January saw the highest number of motorists caught speeding at 241, while 410 drivers were found to be failing to belt up in February and 156 car users were punished for mobile phone offences in the same month.
"By not wearing a seatbelt, by speeding or by using your mobile phone, you are putting yourself and others at serious risk of injury or even death," commented Chief Inspector Martin Barnes-Smith of the Suffolk roads policing unit.
Last week, drivers in the county were targeted by Suffolk police as part of a Europe-wide speeding campaign.
