A car insurance
company is planning to offer fully electronic certificates for customers buying their cover over the internet.
Kwik Fit is planning to use a high-tech message delivery system designed to send certificates securely via email.
The firm first started looking at the system, developed by IT firm SSP, after the government began developing a 2009 law allowing the electronic delivery of car insurance certificates.
Kwik Fit managing director Martin Oliver said: "Customers buying online not only demand low prices and high levels of service, but also expect electronic delivery of documentation."
The company now estimates around 70 per cent of all its
car insurance policies are bought over the internet, and is hoping the new technology will improve service and cut administration costs.
Earlier this month, Kwik Fit came joint top on website usability in a Global Reviews survey of insurance websites.
