Drive to work 'among most hazardous'

The journey to work could be one of the most hazardous motorists make, according to research from the continent.
A study in Germany has shown a large number of car accidents happen on the way to a regular job, with the
routine possibly dulling driver senses.
Car testing organisation TUEV Sued is advising motorists not to mull over work tasks ahead and to make sure they leave enough time to
get to work.
The organisation says: "Motorists should not dial numbers on cell phones or check voice mails while on the move
and should turn down excessively loud music from CDs."
Statistics from a trade association in Berlin reveal 85,000 workers were involved in collisions in the city on the
way to work in 2006, resulting in potentially avoidable
car insurance claims.
In 2005 research from Churchill revealed a third of all accidents happen within a mile of a drivers home and a
further third within five miles.
Those aged 36 to 40 were the most likely to suffer a collision close to home as minds wander to family chores.
