AA advice for drivers on an Irish holiday

Drivers heading to Ireland for their summer holidays can look forward to improved signage and roads, experts say.
AA Ireland also reminded British motorists to remember speed and distance road signs change from imperial to
metric when moving from Northern Ireland to the south.
Statistics from Tourism Ireland show 4.97 million Britons visited Ireland in 2006, spending a total of 1,722
million euros.
AA Ireland spokesman Thomas Brosnan said: "We like to think that signposting has improved – it
probably has a long way to go at times, but it has improved."
Mr Brosnan added drivers heading for Irish-speaking Gaeltacht areas should also be aware that signposts
may not have English translations, although most maps offer a guide to interpret these.
Last month AA Ireland also said UK motorists should check what level of cover their
car insurance policies will give
them when travelling to the Republic.
The AA provides breakdown cover and motoring advice for its members, plus loans and other financial products.
