Some homeowners are finding bills and credit repayments an increasing strain as food costs continue to rise,
experts have warned.
Transact said Britons should be doing much more saving to help them deal with difficult times presented by
problems such as the credit crunch.
A coordinator from the company said money "is now much more expensive" and borrowing was not the
answer to solving financial issues.
Jamie Elliott said: "An increasing number of people are finding that their sums no longer add up."
Last month the British Insurance Brokers Association warned homeowners trying to cut costs not to rely on
self-insurance techniques in place of a full
home insurance policy.
Last month Transact reported it was seeing an increasing number of the middle-classes turn to it for
financial help.
The organisation is a free independent UK-wide network for people committed to practising and promoting
financial inclusion.
