Holiday home repairs 'complicated' without insurance

Industry experts are warning fixing problems with holiday homes can be "extremely complicated and expensive" without an insurance policy.
The British Insurance Brokers'Association (Biba) said some people do not cover second leisure homes either because they don't want to pay or because they wrongly think they don't need to.
Recent research from Zurich Private Clients found that one in ten people do not have insurance for their holiday homes and a further eleven per cent were unsure of whether their cover was sufficient.
BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive Graeme Trudgill said: "We believe that something like 24 per cent of people don't even have contents insurance in the UK."
Holiday home owners worried about the cost of covering their second properties could turn to the internet to get quotes for
home insurance policies.
The most recent government statistics, from 2005 to 2006, show 278,000 households have second homes in Britain and 211,000 have second homes abroad.
