Ancillaries - more protection for you and your motorbike
Also referred to as Legal cover or Uninsured Loss Recovery, legal assistance is an optional
extra which will help cover the costs of legal proceedings that might be incurred following
an accident that was the fault of a third party.
With legal cover included in your motorbike insurance policy you can expect legal professionals
to argue any case for you and attempt to recover any losses; from medical losses, loss of earnings
or your policy excess. It may be that after an accident the guilty party may not acknowledge
their error. This could lead to legal negotiations which could prove to be complex, timely and
very costly. Legal cover can be very helpful during a motorbike claim and at Gocompare.com we
offer you the choice of including legal cover in all your motorbike insurance quotes.

When or if you manage to accumulate four or more years no claims discount you may be able
to protect your no-claim discount. Some insurance companies may say that you have to
have more than four years no claims discount in order to protect your no claims discount.
Generally, having protected no claims discount allows you to keep the same discount should
you have a fault claim on your insurance policy. The claim would however be a part of your
claims history and would have to be declared for possibly the next five years, every time
you take out a another insurance policy.
Also, when an insurance company calculates your following insurance premium they will take
into account the previous claim which may make the total premium rise. You would still be
receiving your discount at the same rate but the discount would be taken from a more
expensive figure, making it more expensive than a premium calculated with your risk
without the claim.

- Insurance certificate (a Green Card isn't needed in EU countries)
- V5 registration document (original)
- A modern driving licence with a photo
- E111 form, entitling free medical treatment in EU countries
- European breakdown cover; (is advisable)
Green Cards are now becoming outdated as motorbike insurance companies have recognised
that this information can just as easily be added to the back of you motor insurance
certificate. You may find that the terminology has changed to Foreign Use Cover but will
be clearly visible for you to see.
