What about security?

Security is paramount. Just imagine how devastated you would feel to find your motorbike stolen leaving nothing but the chain left on the pavement. Undoubtedly there are many steps that can be taken to make your bike more secure, from chains to alarms and immobilisers; but one company, Lockit 2 Me Ltd, has taken this idea and tweaked it a bit to make things more difficult for the rogue thief.

They came up with a simple non-profit making scheme entitled Lock-2-Lock which is run for the benefit of riders that proposes to unite motorcyclists in a bid to radically reduce bike theft.

The scheme works by encouraging members to interlock their security chains together to secure their bikes and scooters. This prevents opportunist thieves from simply lifting single bikes into vans and stealing them. By allowing its members to create a daisy chain of locked bikes, L2L effectively renders this impossible, because only the locks are connected – any member is free to unlock and leave independently.

Lockit 2 Me Ltd even have (shown on their website) the endorsement of World Superbike Champion James Toseland. Enthusiastic about the L2L idea he stated he was impressed that by attaching an L2L sticker to their bikes, motorcyclists can help to drastically reduce motorcycle theft. The L2L sticker displayed on a motorcycle authorises another Lock-2-Lock member to lock his or her bike security chain to that particular bike's security chain. It is that simple.

From what appears to be a simple idea Lockit 2 Me Ltd have possibly hit upon an effective way of deterring potential thefts.
