About Go.Compare

We’re Go.Compare, the comparison service dedicated to helping people choose better.

Who are we?

Go.Compare is a website that lets you compare the cost and features of a wide variety of insurance policies, financial products and energy tariffs.

We were launched by a team of insurance experts in November 2006 as the first comparison site to focus on displaying policy details rather than just listing prices. Even way back then, we were determined to help people to make better-informed decisions.

Our mission hasn’t changed, it’s simply grown. We only work with insurers and financial services organisations that we can rely on and we’ve built up a network of trusted partners.

Oh yeah, and the best part is that it’s completely free. We don’t charge you to use our service.

What makes us special?

You’re our priority.

We’re dedicated to helping you choose the most suitable products rather than just the cheapest. You can compare up to an extra 30 features on our site (thank you Defaqto!).

Why trust us?

As well as thousands of five-star reviews on Trustpilot[1], here are a few more reasons to compare with us:

1. We’re impartial

All brands pay us a fee to appear on our comparison service, which means we’re not banking on you buying from any particular brand to make money. This lets us be choosy about who we work with, so the products you see are only from trusted partners.

We don’t accept advertising or sponsored listings, so all product comparisons are unbiased.

2. We’re the experts of choice

Our in-house experts and authors, plus our wide range of partners have helped us build a virtual library of information, which we pass on to you through our guides, articles and the product information you see when you compare with us.

We don’t just focus on price, but on product details – giving you the ability to make an informed decision.

3. We’ve more to offer

As well as our impartiality and expertise, we’ve also got a handy freebie to offer you – when you compare car[2] or home[3] insurance with us, you’ll get £250 excess cover for free.

We’re also the only comparison website to be invited to join the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) and have a membership for the Insurance Fraud Bureau.

How do we make money?

If you're wondering how we make our money, you can rest assured that we don't add fees or commissions to the prices you compare.

We charge fees to the providers of products that appear on our various comparison services when a customer buys through the site - something we would liken to the fee that the product provider may pay for advertising in a more traditional manner if they planned to sell directly.
