It’s best known for breakdown cover, but you can also get a car insurance quote from the AA
The AA is a familiar brand. It offers comprehensive car insurance and third party insurance, as well as multi-car cover and short term car insurance.
But just because it’s well known, that doesn’t mean you should choose it as your insurer.
The only way to find out if it offers a good deal for you is to compare prices and get some quotes.
The AA is known for its bright yellow breakdown assistance vehicles, so it’s no surprise that if you take out car insurance with the AA, you can add breakdown cover.
It even has a breakdown helpline number which is open 24/7, whether you’re an AA member or not.
Other optional extras are motor legal assistance, excess protection and additional personal injury cover – called ‘motor accident plan’.
You’ll need to pay extra for those add-ons, but AA’s uninsured driver promise is free on comprehensive car insurance policies. It means you won’t lose out on your no-claims if you get hit by an uninsured driver.
The AA does more than just car insurance.
It was founded in 1905 by a small group of driving devotees that wanted to help motorists stay safe on the road and avoid motoring penalties doled out by the police.
Ever wondered what AA stands for? The AA originally started out as the ‘Motorists’ Mutual Association’, but then changed to ‘The Automobile Association’ after gaining an eager following.
AA’s mission statement is to provide reliable, trustworthy services that puts its customers first, and develop creative technology to “make life easier”.
As with other providers, things like more years of driving experience and no claims, plus driving smaller, less powerful cars will generally mean you have cheaper premiums.
These push up costs, so only add what you need. If you don’t want breakdown cover, you don’t have to add it
If you already have AA membership for breakdown cover you can get a discount on your car insurance - just make sure you compare quotes first
You could benefit from having a telematics policy - which bases your premium price on how well you drive
The AA also offers telematics policies, so safer drivers can see if that’s cheaper for them
