Scottish Power tariffs

As one of the biggest energy suppliers in the UK, it's no surprise that there are a variety of tariffs available at Scottish Power.

These include all the usual suspects, such as:

Many of the tariffs mentioned above are also part of Scottish Power's Help Beat Cancer campaign, whereby the company will make a £5 donation - per fuel, per annum - for every customer that applies.

Tariff prices from Scottish Power

Scottish Power's one of the 'big six' energy suppliers, but being a large established company doesn't necessarily mean it'll be one of the cheapest.

Most tariffs that Scottish Power has on the table offer the freedom to switch between plans at your discretion without incurring any additional fees.

However, exit fees do apply with certain tariffs, so be sure to check the terms before you sign up.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Scottish Power will automatically move you to a different tariff, probably its standard variable rate, once your initial plan comes to an end.

Scottish Power's customer service

Gas and electricity regulator Ofgem gave a fairly positive picture of Scottish Power's service in its customer satisfaction ratings in November, 2017, with a 74% customer satisfaction rate and 67% of customers reportedly satisfied with their bills for electricity.

But things can change over time, so you might want to check the most recent customer reviews before you commit to a long contract with Scottish Power.

In addition to its direct customer service, Scottish Power also has commendable charitable ethics and is a strong supporter of Cancer Research, raising over £15m for it by 2017.

How to switch energy supplier to Scottish Power

Switching energy supplier is probably simpler than you think – all the energy companies, big or small, supply the same gas and electricity through the same pipes and wires – all that changes for you is who sends your bill.

Don't just assume you'll get the best deal with Scottish Power though – it's wise to compare prices and shop around to make sure you get a tariff and price that fits your circumstances and energy use.

If you do decide it's the right supplier for you, switching to Scottish Power is a relatively simple process, which has three main steps:

  • Application and registration
  • Billing set-up
  • Supply

Scottish Power will even speak to your current energy supplier, so you don't have to.

Overall, the switching process should take no more than three weeks, but it usually takes around 17 days from start to finish.
