How to get a health insurance quote

To make sure you’re getting the right cover for the right price, you should compare a variety of health insurance quotes. The easiest way to do this is online.

Provide a few details

We’ll need to know a few things, including your:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Contact information

You’ll also need to provide information for any other family members you want covered under the policy.

Consider your options

Next you’ll be shown the list of the insurance policies you can choose from, with the price and details of what’s included in the cover.

Make sure you consider the cover details carefully – don’t be tempted to just opt for the cheapest policy, as you might not have the cover you need.

If you’re not sure what you need, you can talk to one of Active Quote’s trained advisors, who’ll be happy to help you.

Choose your policy

Once you’ve picked your policy, the documents will be sent to you via email.

Give them a check to make sure all the details are correct, and that’s it. You’re covered!

How to claim on your health insurance

If you need to make a claim, you’ll first need to have an examination and get a primary diagnosis from your GP. Make sure you tell them that you have private health cover so your GP can give you an open referral.

When you know which treatment you need, get in touch with your insurer so it can check whether you're covered for that particular condition. It should say how to contact your insurer in your policy documents.

Once you’ve got approval to continue, you’ll need to book a consultation – your insurer can help with this.

After you’ve met your consultant and mapped out your treatment plan, you’ll be contacted if there’s any excess to pay.
