Choose from two levels of home insurance - Home Insurance and Home Insurance Plus.
Churchill Insurance was founded in 1989.
It’s a leading provider of car and van, home, travel and pet insurance and is well-known for its dependable dog mascot Churchill (or ‘Churchie’ for short).
Churchill offers buildings, contents or a combined buildings and contents policy.
You can choose from two levels of cover:
If your home isn’t safe to live in after an event like a fire or flood, you’ll get the cost of alternative accommodation covered (up to a specified limit). You might also be offered emergency funds, to cover immediate essentials, like food and clothing.
It offers ‘new for old’ cover including clothing that’s destroyed in an insured event. There’s also a 12-month warranty on all building work done by Churchill’s approved repairers. Cover for your garden and plants comes as standard too.
Churchill Home Insurance and Home Plus have been awarded a 5 Star Rating by Defaqto. And you can easily manage your policy online.
It's still important to compare different home insurance providers to make sure you're getting the right policy that covers your home insurance needs.
Churchill buildings insurance covers your buildings for loss or damage caused by storms, floods, escape of water, subsidence and heave, vandalism or malicious acts, falling trees or branches.
Depending on the type of cover you choose, it can also pay for accidental damage to underground pipes, drains and tanks, as well as alternative accommodation for you and your pets if your home is damaged and you can’t live in it.
Plus if you lose your keys or they’re stolen, you’re covered for replacement locks.
Trace and access cover – to determine the cause of water leaks – is also included.
The belongings in your home are covered for damage caused by disasters like floods, fires and escape of water.
It also pays for things including:
These four extras are all included as standard on Home Plus policies, but can be purchased as additional cover on a Home policy:
Churchill will arrange for an authorised repairer to deal with all sorts of home emergencies - like your heating system breaking down or a burst pipe leaking through your ceiling. You’ll also be covered if there’s damage to external locks and you can’t get in your home, or if pests like wasps or vermin take up residence in your home and you need to get rid of them fast. One night’s emergency accommodation up to a certain value is also included.
This covers your buildings for things like hammering through the floorboards into a gas pipe when you’re doing DIY. Damage to your fixtures and fittings also counts.
Your home’s contents are covered for all sorts of eventualities - whether that’s spilling red paint over cream curtains when you’re decorating or knocking over the TV when you’re vacuuming.
You’re covered up to a certain amount for legal costs to help resolve things like employment disputes, issues over faulty work done by tradesmen, wrangles with neighbours or to pursue a personal injury claim if you or a member of your family who lives with you is involved in an accident that wasn’t your fault.
Belongings you take out of the home are insured for loss, accidental damage or theft. Things like your mobile phone and jewellery are covered as well as your wallet or purse, plus your bicycles.
Churchill Home Plus includes a few extras, like:
Home Plus also offers higher limits of cover.
Matching Sets and Suites cover is also included. This means that if part of a set or suite is damaged and it can’t be repaired or replaced, they will replace the whole set or suite as new.
Your premium costs will depend on things like what type of property you live in and what materials it’s made from.
Churchill will also want to know about your claims history in the past three years.
The area you live in will also have a bearing on cost. For example, if your home is somewhere that’s prone to flooding or has a high rate of home burglaries, you might have to pay more.
