A Hastings Direct buildings insurance policy protects your home against unexpected damage from things like a fire, storm, or flooding.

It covers the bricks and mortar of your home and its permanent fixtures, like fitted kitchens and bathroom suites. It’ll also cover your outbuildings, like sheds and garages.

Hastings Direct buildings insurance includes cover for:

  • Damage to the structure and permanent fixtures and fittings of your home
  • Accidental damage to underground drains and pipes
  • Up to £50,000 in costs for alternative accommodation
  • Trace and access to help find the cause of a leak
  • Up to £500,000 cover for damage from leaking water and oil
  • Up to £1 million cover for property owner’s liability
  • Replacing locks and keys

Hastings Direct contents insurance

Hastings Direct contents insurance takes care of what’s inside your home. It’ll pay to repair or replace your things if they’re suddenly damaged or lost, from events like fire, theft or flooding.

Hastings Direct contents insurance includes cover for:

  • Up to £150,000 worth of possessions
  • A single-item limit of up to £1,500 (unless specified otherwise)
  • Escape of water and oil
  • Contents in outbuildings
  • The cost of alternative accommodation, up to £10,000
  • Replacing spoiled frozen food, up to £500
  • Up to £500 in money and credit cards kept at home
  • Visitors’ belongings up to £1,000
  • Up to £1 million in public liability

You can add any of these extras to your Hastings Direct policy to get the right cover for your home:

Home emergency cover (included with Premier policies)

This protects you against home emergencies, like plumbing issues or a central heating breakdown. Hastings Direct will send out a qualified tradesperson and will cover you for costs up to £500.

Home legal expenses (included with Premier policies)

This cover provides a helpline to discuss personal debt or legal problems. You can also get up to £100,000 towards legal costs to help with legal matters, including personal injury and employment disputes.

Personal possessions cover

You can add this cover to protect any items you might temporarily take away from home, like your bike or jewellery.

Accidental damage

This will cover structural accidents like putting your foot through the loft floor or hitting a nail through a pipe. And it’ll cover your contents for mishaps like spilling a tin of paint on the carpet or knocking over your TV.
