About Swinton

Established in 1957, Swinton Insurance has been helping people with their insurance needs for more than 60 years.

By going the extra mile to help people find the right cover, Swinton has become a household name. And today the insurer serves more than one million customers in the UK.

Swinton Insurance offers a wide range of products to meet its customers’ needs. These range from car insurance and home insurance, to taxi and commercial insurance policies, as well as services like breakdown cover.

Why choose Swinton home insurance?

  • With its focus on providing a highly personal service, Swinton Insurance was the winner of the 2021 UK Customer Satisfaction Awards.
  • This customer satisfaction also shines through on Trustpilot where Swinton Insurance is rated excellent - achieving a score of 4.3 out of five from more than 24,000 customer reviews.
  • What’s more, Swinton’s Premier home insurance product has been awarded a five-star expert rating by Defaqto, the independent financial research company.

What types of home insurance does Swinton Insurance provide?

Swinton Insurance provides buildings insurance, contents insurance, and also offers a combined home insurance cover.

Swinton contents insurance

This covers all the items in your home that aren’t part of the fabric of the building. It provides financial protection for your belongings - like your furniture, clothing and electrics - in case they get damaged, destroyed or stolen.

Swinton buildings insurance

This covers any damage to the physical structure of your home, like your windows, walls and roof. It also covers permanent fixtures like fitted kitchens and bathrooms.

Swinton combined home insurance

A combined Swinton policy gives you contents and buildings insurance in one. This sort of policy is sometimes cheaper than buying both types of cover separately.

What does Swinton home insurance cover?

To help you find the right cover for your needs, Swinton offers three different levels of cover: Essentials, Classic, and Premier.

Each level provides different payout limits for each category and can include cover for different things.

Whichever level you choose, you can get from:

  • £500,000 to unlimited cover for buildings
  • £50,000 to £150,000 for contents cover

What optional extras are available?

To get the right cover for your needs you can tailor your Swinton home insurance with optional add-ons.

  1. Accidental damage

If you have an accident at home, this policy add-on can cover the cost of repairs or replacements for any unexpected damage to your home or its contents.

  2. Personal possessions

This will cover items you carry with you away from your home, like keys, smartphones and laptops.

  3. Legal protection

This can help cover legal expenses if you’re sued or if you’re claiming against someone else.

  4. Home emergency cover

For sudden home emergencies, like a boiler breakdown, this can provide 24-hour access to qualified tradespeople when you need urgent repairs.
