How can I buy AIG life insurance?

What does AIG life insurance cover?

Choose from four different life insurance plans:

Term insurance

This is designed to pay out a lump sum when the person insured dies or is diagnosed with a terminal illness that has a life expectancy of less than 12 months.

The money could be used to help pay off a mortgage or provide financial protection for family members.

Family income benefit

This type of cover pays out a monthly sum when the policyholder dies or is diagnosed with a terminal illness that has a life expectancy of less than 12 months.

It covers you in the same way as term insurance but, rather than paying out the full amount in one go, it pays out in monthly instalments instead. This can help those left behind with budgeting and paying for ongoing expenses, such as household bills.

Life Start

This policy pays out a fixed lump sum assured, but it’s designed to be easier to pay for at the start. Premiums will go up every year over the full term of the policy - your quote will include an illustration of how much they’ll increase, and the total cost of the policy to you. It could end up being more expensive than a term insurance policy in the long run, though.

Instant Life Insurance

For express cover, this life insurance is available just by filling in a short online application form. No medical evidence is required so AIG can give you an instant decision.

AIG also offers over 50s life cover and whole of life insurance, which pays out when you pass away.

What optional extras are available?

If you’re looking for a more comprehensive policy, you may want to think about tailoring your life insurance with optional extras:

Critical illness cover

You can choose to combine your life insurance plan with critical illness cover. It’s there to help you cope financially if you’re diagnosed with one of the conditions listed in the policy, or if you pass away.

A lump sum can help cover bills and other expenses if you can no longer work because of your illness, or it could pay for things like adapting your home if your condition requires it.

Waiver of premium

If you include this in your policy, you won’t have to pay your premiums if you’re incapacitated for longer than 26 weeks.

How much does AIG life insurance cost?

It depends on a few things, such as the type and level of cover you choose, how old you are, your occupation and current health (plus if you smoke).

However, premiums for AIG’s over 50s life cover start from just £5 a month (based on age and smoker status).
