If there’s nothing in the winter TV schedule which takes your fancy why not get stuck into a classic box set instead?
commissioned research with over 2000 UK viewers to find the nation’s all-time Top 10 box sets, giving Brits bored with the usual talent and ‘reality’ TV shows a great place to start when considering alternatives to terrestrial TV this winter.
The Top 10 Best Box Sets of All-Time.
|1st||Game of Thrones|
|4th||Band of Brothers|
Damian Lewis has starred in two box sets in the top 10 and has cultivated a successful career in the genre. He played Major Richard Winters in World War Two drama ‘Band of Brothers’ from 2001 and Nicholas Brody in ‘Homeland’. More recently he starred in ‘Wolf Hall’ as Henry VIII and plays Bobby Axelrod in current hit ‘Billions’.
Ben Wilson, from Gocompare.com Broadband, said: “1 in 8 (12%) UK adults say they now spend more time watching box sets than any other form of television and with so many to choose from it’s can be difficult to know where to start. 9% of viewers felt that many box sets were strung out for too many seasons and the quality tailed off, so this top 10 should point box set addicts looking for a new fix in the right direction. The survey also revealed that ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ are the two box sets Brits are most keen to watch this Winter.
“These days most viewers tend to watch box sets via an on-demand service such as Netlfix, Amazon Prime, Sky Go or Now TV and we’ve seen an increase in streaming services popping up over the past few years creating an increase in demand for faster broadband with unlimited data. Our research found that 11% of people would watch more box sets if their broadband service was better and 6% still suffer buffering and poor picture quality.”
Ben added; “Although you may be able to improve your viewing by upgrading to a better broadband service, the maximum speeds advertised may be considerably higher than you actually receive.
“The internet now plays a vital part in many people’s day-to-day lives so it’s important to make sure you’ve got the right package. Whether you’re using broadband at home for personal use such as streaming box sets, movies and gaming, or if you’re running a home business, make sure you’re regularly seeing what’s on offer from other providers, especially if you’ve been with your existing broadband company for several years.”
