What add-ons can I get with Sainsbury’s Bank?

You can add several optional extras for more thorough protection depending on what you’re getting up to on your travels, including:

Enhanced gadget cover

All Sainsbury’s Bank policies automatically provide standard gadget cover. But if you’re taking a lot of valuable gadgets away with you, like mobile phones, laptops, tablets, digital cameras and wearable technology, you might want to add the enhanced gadget cover extension to your policy. It offers increased limits for accidental damage, theft, malicious damage and loss - up to £3,000 with a Platinum policy.

Winter sports cover

You’ll need this cover if you’re taking to the slopes. It covers you for any emergency medical treatment you may require as a result of participating in winter sports activities like skiing or snowboarding. You’re also covered for the delay, loss, theft or damage of your ski equipment and reimbursement of any ski hire or tuition fees you can’t use because of accident or sickness. Piste closure and avalanche closure are also included.

Golf cover

You’re covered for the loss, theft or damage of your golf equipment. And for the cost of hiring golf equipment if yours is lost, stolen or delayed on your outward journey for over 12 hours from the time you arrive at your destination. You’ll also be reimbursed for any pre-booked non-refundable green fees if the course at your destination becomes unplayable because of adverse weather conditions.

Cruise cover

Cruises are covered as standard in Sainsbury’s Bank’s single-trip policies. But you can also purchase an add-on which gives you extra cover for activities and risks that are associated with cruise holidays. That includes if you’re confined to your cabin by the ship’s medical officer. You can also be reimbursed for missed excursions or if your cruise ship can’t make a scheduled port stop. Personal baggage limits are increased too.

Enhanced covid cover

Standard covid-19 cover is included in all Sainsbury’s Bank travel insurance policies. It covers cancellation if you have a covid-19 diagnosis before you go, plus emergency medical treatment and repatriation if you contract covid-19 abroad.

Enhanced covid-19 cover gives you extra benefits including:

  • Full cover if you choose to visit Europe even though the foreign, commonwealth and development office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel. Provided the advice solely relates to covid-19.
  • Cover if you have to cancel your holiday because you’re told to self-isolate by the UK Test and Trace System.
